Noe skal man da holde på med når man ikke kan trene :-)
Planen er nå et selvstudiumskurs i hjulbygging. Noen andre som vil være med?
- tenker ikke annet enn erfaringsutveksling og diskusjonspartner f.eks.

Hvorfor bygge hjul?
Tsja si det. Man får jo ok ferdig fabrikk/maskinbygde hjul, men gleden og tryggheten ved å mestre sykkelen også teknisk syns jeg er litt ok. Og man kan bygge bra hjul også. Lukt f.eks. på dette oppsettet:

Ambrosio Chrono F20 pariser lavprofil felger. Ambrosio er legendarisk, og når Tom Boonen raser over brosteinene i Ardennerskogen (Paris Roubaix) er det ofte på Ambrosio felger, selv om det nok er den litt tyngre og sterke felgen Nemesis som velges for Paris Roubaix. En Chrono F20 felg veier 360gram en Nemesis felg 430. Ref: http://autobus.cyclingnews.com/tech/200 ... aix_sl2_09

Spiler: Vel - vi kjører simpelt. Sapim CX Ray flate aerodynamiske stålspiler. Chrono F20 felgen kommer med 28 eller 32 hulls boring, så vi går for 28.

Nav - istedet for Boonen bombesikre DT Swiss valg går vi for tysk lettvektseleganse fra Tune. Tune Mig 75 foran og Tune MAG 180 bak. De tusenvis av kronene vi sparer på å ikke velge 45 grams fornavet og 150 grams baknavet går greit. Det er jo tross alt sentrert vekt.

Av nipler spiser vi også i oss den økte vekten messing nipler kontra aluminium gir. Alu niplene er vel dømt til å ires fast til stålspilene så det er jo litt risky servicemessig.

Totalt får en da et hjul sett som veier:

Nav: 71+187gram
Spiler: 2*28 CX ray ca 255gram
Nipler: ca 55 gram
Felger 2*360 gram
Totalt for hjulsett uten stikkaksler: 1288 gram!!!
Delepriser over nett: ca 6-7000
Konvensjonelt bygget hjulsett som er lett servicebart

Sammenligning:
Fulcrum Race Zero (Pariser) 1430 gram - pris ca 8000
Mavic Ksyrium SL: 1485 gram - pris ca 8000
Spesialbygget hjulsett som krever originaldeler for service (alu spiler etc.)

Nå bygger jeg nok ikke dette som first shot i allefall, men bare for å vise hva man kan bygge :-)
Etterhvert kan man kanskje våge seg på carbonfelger også?

There are two well know wheel building books on the market. "The Bicycle Wheel" by Jobst Brandt is one, and the other is this book. While I like the Brandt book, I think this one is my favorite. Brandt's book is full of engineering explanation of how wheels work. I think that is important to know, but I want to know more about wheel building, not just the science behind wheels. Schraner's book concentrates more on actually building wheels and the sport of cycling. Also, the books physical form is easier to lay on a bench and use while actually building a wheel.

With the most easy to follow directions, this book has helped a total novice become a sought after wheel builder. After building more that 30 sets in the last year, I still open the book and refer to various sections to "tighten" my technique. If you are simply a "bike freak" this makes for great reading. It helps you understand the importance of well built wheels.

I'm not sure if this book was translated from German (my guess), but the grammar leaves much to be desired. Directions are often confusing due to diagrams and text that don't quite jibe. I would expect more from a truing section than "it is a trial and error process". Mr. Schraner obviously has a lot of knowledge, I just don't feel it comes through clearly in the book.

While this book won't make a true wheelwright out of the reader, it will certainly explain in clear terms how a wire wheel actually works. In doing so it gives the reader the key points nessesary to develop the skills to becoming a wheelwright without miring down in technical minutia. In short, this is the book to start with. "

Brosteinsklassikerne er krevende, og da velger proffene ofte håndbygde hjul :-)

(Ambrosio Nemesis er en sterk felg som er litt tyngre enn Ambrisio Chrono. Nemesis er en gjenganger på brosteinsløpene i Flandern og Paris Roubaix)

Kor langt kom du i sjølvbygging av hjul? Eg kunne tenkt meg å få til nåkke slikt.. Kjekt å kunne lage gode treningshjul som passer min vekt og lommebok..

I gamle dager hadde man eiker i vognhjul som var laget av tre.
Så kom sykler med tynne metalldingser til Bergen (alltid tidlig ute med nyvinninger). Disse ble kalt spiler.
Det kan kanskje også bortforklares med at vi alltid har vært gode på paraplydeler i regnbyen (les: "spiler")

Nei det var bare fri fantasi. Eiker og spiler en nok synonymer i alle fall i vår sammenheng.

Forøvrig heter det ikke sparkesykkel, men løpahjul (løperhjul?) Evt "jøpajul" hvis du har slått ut fortennene på styret :wink:

Andreas, jeg kom aldri så langt - det var det med tiden...
Jeg og "svogers" begynte på et billig "rullehjul" til ham men så hadde vi litt uhell med litt korte nipler - slash - litt korte spiler på ikke - drev siden av bakhjulet så vi fikk ikke sentrert det helt. Burde vel fått noen litt lengre nipler eller spiler og bygget det ferdig.
Jeg endte på "lazy" varianten og kjøpte en disc hjulsett til commuter-crosseren min fra rundehjul. Det har fungert knallbra det settet. Himmelvid forskjell fra kjipahjulene den hadde originalt.

Fyren er også ganske aktiv på terrengsykkel.no-forumet, og jeg tror han svarer villig på spørsmål underveis i byggingen.

Sida har også noe som kan kalles en nettbutikk på deler, men den er ikke veldig bra.
